Where our data comes from and how we aim to use it

By collecting and publishing destinations information we aim to:

  • help prospective students to understand the value of a degree from LSE
  • assist current LSE students when considering their future career options
  • recognise the achievements of LSE graduates, and
  • enable the School to continue improving services to students and alumni

The Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey

The DLHE survey is commissioned by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). All UK higher education institutions are required to participate in the survey by collecting destinations data from UK and other EU graduates six months after graduation. In addition, LSE has chosen to include non-EU graduates within the DLHE survey.

This survey enables the School to find out the first destinations of all our recent graduates and understand how LSE graduates initially fare in the graduate labour market.

Longitudinal surveys

Each year we contact a different cohort of graduates to find out what work and further study they have completed in the three years after graduation, as well as their current occupation. The aim of this survey is to find out more about the long-term career development of LSE graduates.

Graduate profiles

We are always looking for alumni to contribute to our graduate profiles.

If you are an LSE graduate and interested in sharing your experience, then complete an LSE graduate profile questionnaire to tell us about your career since graduating and reflect on your time at LSE. The aim of these profiles is to highlight the different career paths open to LSE graduates and allow alumni to share their experiences and advice with current and prospective students.

Data requests

If you would like to request any LSE graduate careers data which is not found on our department and degree breakdown and our staff portal, please contact the LSE Data Protection Officers at glpd.info.rights@lse.ac.uk.
