Celebration of Sustainability 2015

I am encouraged to see the progress we are continuously making as a school to reduce our environmental impact.

Julia Black,

Interim Director LSE

The Celebration of Sustainability event celebrated all the hard work put in by staff and students on environmental initiatives this year, and was a great success! The event this year was hosted by Bob Ward from the Grantham Research Institute and saw LSE Alum Rishi Madlani give an inspirational talk on building connections and challenging current structures to bring about sustainable change.

The awards this year were reclaimed tiles from LSE Stores and upcycled clocks made by Khalil Berzangi, Maintenance Technician from Estates. Over  50 awards were handed out to departments who took part in the environmental competition Green Impact for their hard work over the last year . Three teams jointly won the prestigious prize of Platinum this year, showing how high the standard is across campus. Well done to the Department of Management, Roseberry Hall of Residence and Northumberland House!

The celebration event also highlighted the array of unique staff and student led projects across campus. Other awards included the Sustainable  Projects Fund, Student Switch Off winners, and Environmental Champions, who were awarded a Fairtrade food hamper for raising the bar further in their efforts to reduce their environmental impact.
