LSE Internships

Could you benefit from hiring an LSE intern?

LSE Careers offers internship programmes in partnership with employers and internal LSE departments.

LSE Parliamentary Internships Programme

LSE has been placing high-calibre interns with parliamentarians and the administration of both Houses since since 1998, when the scheme was launched by alum and governor, Barry Sheerman MP.

These part-time internships with our graduate-level students for up to fifteen hours per week (October - March), involve a mixture of research projects, policy work, scrutiny and monitoring, constituency work and general office support.

Opportunities are open to students from all programmes and disciplines, with candidates providing hosts with excellent analytical and research skills and offer a unique international outlook and in return they gain the invaluable experience of witnessing the parliamentary process and apply their studies first hand.

Graduates get the opportunity to develop various technical skills and soft skills to enhance their employability and further prepare them for their future career.

Internship Fund Scheme

The Internship Fund Scheme provides funding for a limited number of summer internships within UK based charities and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) each year. First and second year undergraduate students from the International Relations and Social Policy departments are eligible to apply for funding. Internships are self-sourced by the students who go on to receive funding and provide an opportunity to gain real life industry experience and develop their employability skills during the summer.

Micro Internship Programme

The LSE Micro Internship scheme provides undergraduate students with limited graduate level work experience the opportunity to undertake work shadowing (2-5 days) and/or a fully funded 4-week (140-hour) internship. This scheme gives these students the opportunity to develop various technical skills and soft skills to enhance their employability and further prepare them for their future career. These will take place during the Spring, Summer and Winter vacations. This scheme is seeking employers from the following sectors Charities, NGOs, Not-for-profits, Creatives Industries, International Development and Technology.
