If you are studying a full-time degree programme or the General Course and need a visa for the UK, you may be eligible to apply for the Tier 4 (General) visa. This visa will allow you to remain in the UK for the length of you studies, plus provide additional time at the end for you to attend your graduation ceremony.
Eligible, full-time programmes for the Tier 4 (General) visa are:
- Undergraduate degree programmes;
- General Course;
- Taught Masters degrees;
- Postgraduate Research degrees.
Executive Masters degrees are not eligible for the Tier 4 visa with the exception of the Executive Masters in International Strategy and Diplomacy because this degree is classified as full-time.
If you are a dual national or already have another visa for the UK which permits study, please contact ISVAT for advice.
If you are a full-time student on a postgraduate programme of 9 months or more, or you are fully sponsored by your government on a programme of at least six months, you may be eligible to bring your family with you as your dependants.
Can I use a Short-term Student visa to study a full time degree programme?
The only time you can use a Short-term Student visa to attend your full-time programme is if you have re-take or deferred assessments or are attending your viva as an unregistered student. Read our web pages on Short-term Student Visas for Unregistered Students.
