LSE Academic Registrar's Division

LSE’s Academic Registrar’s Division is responsible for the administrative processes supporting the recruitment, admission, registration and examination of undergraduate and postgraduate students, teaching quality assurance processes and servicing related committees. It is the home of, among others, the Teaching Quality Assurance and Review Office, which runs the School’s teaching surveys, services the Academic and Student Affairs Committee (ASC), the Undergraduate Studies Sub-Committee (USSC) and the Graduate Studies Sub-Committee (GSSC), and can advise on all core policies and procedures relating to teaching quality, including course and programme approval, marking, class size and external examining.

LSE Learning Technology and Innovation

LSE Learning Technology and Innovation supports academic staff in the use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning. It offers advice and guidance as well as development and training events and runs the Ignite! and Spark! grant schemes for projects aimed at supporting students’ learning through the innovative use of technology. LTI staff are available to work with departments on a project, one-off or ongoing basis.

LSE LIFE

LSE LIFE is the School’s academic, personal and professional development centre for undergraduate and taught master’s students, housed on the ground floor of the Library. It offers individual and group study space for students as well as a busy programme of talks, workshops and one to one advice (delivered by LSE LIFE staff and their partners across the School), and works with departments to run bespoke events and projects.

PhD Academy

The PhD Academy is LSE’s graduate school for doctoral students. Located on the 4th floor of the Lionel Robbins Building, it offers training in advanced methodology, events to support professional development and one to one advice on finance, visas, careers and wellbeing, as well as space for working and networking.

LSE Teaching and Learning Centre

LSE Teaching and Learning Centre offers developmental and funding opportunities to all staff who teach and support students’ learning. Alongside facilitating induction programmes for Heads of Department, new academic staff and GTAs, the School’s Postgraduate Certificate of Education programme and a year-round series of workshops, practice exchange fora and resources, its departmental advisers are available to work with academic staff on a wide range of teaching- and learning-related activities.
