Alastair has over 25 years of international board and executive level leadership experience growing teams across education, not for profit and professional services sectors. He is Chair of Capital City College Group which through mergers in 2016 and 2017 became one of the largest further education college groups in the UK, catering for over 37,000 16-19 years and adult learners; he is also Chair of digital education business 01 Founders Limited, which provides innovative coding and software development training leading to employment for a diverse cohort of learners.

Between 2018-21 Alastair served as a Commissioner to the UK Government’s Social Mobility Commission. Reports published while Alastair was a Commissioner included a practical guidance to employers showing why they should and how they can recruit and retain a more socially diverse workforce and this has been adopted by many organisations.

Alastair qualified and practised as a corporate lawyer and he is a partner with leading intellectual property specialists HGF Group; he previously had a long career with international law firm DLA Piper, where he was a Partner, Managing Director (for Asia Pacific and Middle East), Global Board and Executive member. Alastair has also served on the boards of leadership development and executive search businesses.

Alastair has a law degree from the University of Leeds, an MSc in Development Management from The London School of Economics and is a qualified solicitor.
