David is a graduate of Sydney University. He has a technical background in civil engineering and a wide-ranging experience in major infrastructure and building projects from funding to commercial development, design and delivery in Australia, UK and Africa.
Since 1995, he has been chief executive at four different large organisations: Lend Lease, English Partnerships, the Olympic Delivery Authority and Network Rail. In each, he was responsible for projects of national importance in which he demonstrated commercial and technical innovation – delivering the 2012 Olympic Games a year ahead of schedule, reforming Network Rail, and leading planning and delivery of HS2, until 2018.
