Universities Superannuation Scheme

USS approach to Responsible Investment

LSE is part of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), along with many other Higher Education institutions in the UK. USS is a pension scheme that many of LSE's employees, both past and present, are members of.

As with most pension schemes, USS' assets are invested to ensure that the pension scheme grows with inflation and can continue to support all present and future pension commitments to staff.

LSE has asked USS to explain their approach to responsible investment, which has contributed to the development of a report in which USS outline what responsible investment means to them, how they do it, and what it looks like in practice, with recent examples from across their portfolio: USS - Responsible investment

USS have stated that their long-term ambition is to be recognised in the UK and globally as a leading asset owner with respect to responsible investment in areas that are key priorities for USS and its members.
