Flu Vaccinations for Staff and Students 2024

Building a safe campus for the LSE community

flu vaccination clinics for staff required to work on LSE's central campus

Please contact Staffwellbeing@lse.ac.uk if you have any questions

The School is pleased to announce the launch of the flu vaccination programme for 2024/25. To support staff and student wellbeing, free onsite flu vaccination clinics have been arranged to take place on campus during October 2024.

The flu vaccination programme is an important part of the School’s ongoing commitment to keeping our community safe. All students and staff are encouraged to get a flu vaccination unless a flu vaccine would be detrimental to your health and/or because of other personal exemptions.

The flu programme has been organised through Bupa. All staff and students can book a flu vaccination on the Bupa booking platform. The booking system is very simple to use and guidance is available on the platform.

According to Bupa advice, it is not possible to offer vaccines to members of staff who are 65 or over; please arrange for a free flu jab via your local NHS provider which offers a higher level of protection for the immune system.

Please note that you will receive an email confirmation of your booking. This also includes a link to cancel or change the date of your appointment.

If you have any questions, you can contact Bupa directly at Fluvac@bupa.com or call the Bupa Anytime HealthLine on 0345 60 90 172.

Flu vaccinations have been sourced at cost to the School as part of measures to create a safer campus. Vaccines are delivered to campus in line with the number of bookings for a clinic and cannot be reused in the event of a no-show. If you find that you are unable to attend a booked appointment, please make sure that you cancel your appointment following the instructions included in the email confirmation so that your slot can be made available to another colleague.

I have already booked an appointment but, unfortunately, I am no longer able to make it. What should I do?

Please remember to cancel or change the date of your appointment if you are no longer able to make it. This is to ensure that we order the correct number of jabs so that none of them go to waste.

The email confirmation you received when you booked your appointment also includes a link to cancel/change the date of your appointment. Simply click on the link and follow the instructions.

I have not booked an appointment. Can I just turn up and receive a jab?

Please try to book an appointment through the Bupa booking portal to ensure that you are able to get a jab. If there are no slots available on the booking portal, you are welcome to turn up without an appointment at around 4pm; if there are vaccinations left, the nurses will be able to offer one to you. Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of the vaccines at the end of the day.

I would like to request a female/male nurses.

Please note that female nurses are scheduled for all clinics. If you require a male nurse, please email Staffwellbeing@lse.ac.uk in advance of your appointment and we will try to arrange one for you.

I am eligible to receive a free flu jab with the NHS. Can I book an appointment to receive a flu jab on campus?

Flu vaccines are being acquired at cost by the School, and we would therefore like to prioritise those individuals who are likely to find it hardest to receive a flu jab by other means. If you have been offered a free flu vaccine through the NHS, we encourage you to book an appointment at your GP surgery.

According to Bupa advice, it is not possible to offer vaccines to members of staff who are 65 or over; please arrange for a free flu jab via your local NHS provider which offers a higher level of protection for the immune system.
