The Extended Education Sub-Committee (EESC) is a joint sub-committee of the Academic Planning and Resources Committee and Education Committee. It ensures LSE’s Extended Education portfolio delivers successfully against agreed strategic objectives whilst upholding academic quality.
EESC is chaired by the Dean of Extended Education and meets once per term.
Scope
The Extended Education portfolio comprises the following segments:
• Summer Schools (including those offsite);
• Online Courses;
• Executive and Custom Education;
• Executive MScs (including TRIUM whilst recognising the unique nature of the TRIUM alliance and its own governance structure);
• University of London International Programmes at LSE (UoLIP), which are accredited by the University of London, including those within the Laws Consortium.
Each of the segments is covered by a Management Board which has responsibility for most operational matters and for academic quality. The EESC receives reports at least twice a year on academic and financial performance from the Management Board of each segment of the portfolio; with the exception of the Summer School Board which reports at least once a year.
EESC exercises financial and strategic oversight of the overall portfolio and reports annually to APRC, Education Committee and the School Management Committee (SMC).
