Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal for the LSE Festival: Visions for the Future. Holding an event as part of the Festival is an excellent way to collaborate with colleagues, boost the profile of your research and reach out to new audiences.
In next year's LSE Festival, we will be exploring the possible worlds to come. How will AI, new technologies and innovation shape our societies? How will we confront the global challenges of climate change and inequality? And, after an historic year of elections, will our political reality change? Unleash your imagination and join us to consider the threats and opportunities of the near and distant future, and what a better world could look like.
Your proposal should include an explanation of the idea for the event, how it fits with the theme and ideas for speakers. One of the main objectives of the LSE Festival is to showcase LSE research and expertise, so we would like to have at least one LSE speaker presenting. The Festival is aimed at a broad public audience, and events should bring together academic and non-academic perspectives, framing research in an accessible way.
We welcome lectures and panel discussions but encourage you to think creatively about their formats and to have a diversity of views. We also want to hear your ideas for alternative formats, such as screenings, or performances, and other activities. The Festival budget will cover all logistical costs and reasonable travel expenses, but please give an indication in your proposal of what these are likely to be.
We usually hold around 30 events during Festival week. Proposals which don't make it into the final programme may still be perfect for other engagement opportunities linked to the theme throughout this academic year. The LSE Festival Steering Group will review all proposals and decide on the programme, and we aim to feedback to everyone at the end of November. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday 1 November. For any questions, please emails comms.events@lse.ac.uk.
