Public Events

How to apply to be part of the online, hybrid or in-person PLP

LSE's public events programme will continue for the Summer Term

At present LSE Events deliver both online and hybrid public events.  A hybrid event will take place at the Sheikh Zayed, Auditoreium or Hong Kong Theatre on campus with the online aspect via Zoom Webinar. This allows up to 3000 people to view each event via Zoom. Additionally we stream the Zoom feed of each of our public events to LSE's central Facebook page. Please note this license can only be registered to an individual and so cannot be shared or passed over for use to others at the School.

There is no departmental charge for online PLP events at present.

We are unable to run multiple online events at the same time. Events can be scheduled during the working day and into the evening (as long as they end no later than 8pm). Events will be recorded and made available as a podcast as usual, subject to speaker permission and encountering no technical problems.

If you are planning an online event which you feel will be of widespread interest and therefore you wish for it to be part of the online PLP then please get in touch with us. We will also consider in-person only events where possible. To formally apply for your event to be part of the PLP, please complete the PLP application form below.

If you wish to provisionally book a slot in our schedule then you can get in touch with us before submitting the PLP form to hold one or more dates and times to offer to speakers. Provisionally booking a slot does not guarantee your event will be taken on as part of the PLP. Take a look at our list of notable dates to help plan your events here.

If we are unable to take on your event or for another reason you wish to deliver the event yourself we recommend you utilise the general Zoom Meetings licence which everyone in the School has access to. This allows you to host up to 300 participants. There is also the option to stream the Zoom feed to your departmental Facebook page to increase attendee reach. This is of course just a recommendation based on our testing and feedback, but it is up to the organisers to decide exactly how to deliver their events. We have put together a brief Zoom guide for these departmental events here

Please note the below PLP deadline dates:

Summer Term 2022 - Friday 4 March 2022
Michaelmas Term 2022 - Friday 22 July 2022

When submitting an application, please ensure the following:

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

As part of the School’s commitment to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion, and in the context of our contributions to the public debate, we have a duty to proactively consider how our events can include a genuinely diverse range of voices in discussions. The full policy statement is available here: Equity and diversity in the public lecture programme.

Please consider the diversity of your panel when putting together online events in the same way as you would have previously for events that took place on campus.
