 Female entrepreneurship - Women and Equalities Committee

The Committee is examining the barriers women face pursuing entrepreneurialism, including the sectors of the economy where women face the greatest obstacles to entrepreneurship and why, and what can be done to address these. 

Deadline: 14 March 

Industrial transition in Scotland – Scottish Affairs Committee 

The Committee is considering Scotland’s industrial past, and how industrial transition has changed the landscape and communities over time. It will also examine the future of Scotland’s industrial landscape and the impact of “Invest 2035” on Scotland.

Deadline: 27 March 

Putting fans first: consultation on the resale of live events tickets - DBT Consultation 

The Department for Business and Trade is seeking views on proposals to strengthen consumer protections in relation to ticket resales.

Communities, Housing, Local Government and Transport

Tackling Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) - Public Accounts Committee 

The PAC and the NAO are examining the work of the Home Office and its partners to implement to 2021 Tackling VAWG strategy and the 2022 Domestic Abuse Plan.

Delivering 1.5 million new homes: Land Value Capture – HCLG Committee

The Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee is seeking views on how land value capture policies can contribute to the delivery of the Government’s house building plans and help fund affordable housing and public infrastructure.

Deadline: 5 March 

Planning and tall buildings – LA Planning and Regeneration Committee

 The London Assembly’s Planning and Regeneration Committee is investigating homes in London’s tall buildings and the impact of these buildings on the health and safety of residents.

Deadline: 4 March 

Local Government financial sustainability - Public Accounts Committee 

The PAC is hearing evidence on the drivers of financial distress for local authorities, challenges and support for individuals accessing local authority services and support for financially failing councils. 

Deadline: 20 March 

Governance and decision-making on major projects - Public Accounts Committee 

The PAC is examining governance and decision-making structures on Government projects and information that has fed into key decision on projects, following a 2025 NAO report exploring why governance arrangements suitable on paper, do not always work in practise.

Technology, Culture, Media and Sport

Digital Centre of Government - SIT Committee

The Science, Innovation and Technology Committee has launched an inquiry to suggest priorities for the new Government Digital Service, scrutinise DSIT's planned approach to implementation, and identify opportunities and challenges. 

Deadline: 2 March 

AI in financial services - Treasury Committee 
This inquiry looks at how UK financial services can take advantage of the opportunities in AI while mitigating any threats to financial stability and safeguarding financial consumers. 

Deadline: 17 March 

Health and Social Care

Antimicrobial resistance: addressing the risks - Public Accounts Committee 

In light of the NAO's 2025 investigation into Government progress on AMR, the PAC are scrutinising how well Government is implementing plans to respond to the risks posed by AMR.

Children and Education

Further Education and Skills – Education Committee

This inquiry will explore the current series of reforms and other challenges currently facing the further education sector, including the pay gap between school and college teachers, maths and English GCSE resits, students’ mental health.

Deadline: 7 March 

Franchising in Higher Education - Department for Education consultation

DfE are consulting on proposals to strengthen oversight of ubcontracted delivery of higher education, also known as franchising. 

Deadline: 4 April

Home Affairs, Work and Pensions

Get Britain Working – Reforming Jobcentres – Work and Pensions Committee

This inquiry will scrutinise the purpose of Jobcentre Plus, the experiences of Jobcentre services, and how well Jobcentres work with others.

Deadline: 3 March 

Consultation on changes to HMRC statistics publications 2025 - HMRC Consultation
HMRC are seeking views from users of their statistics publications on proposed changes to ensure they continue producing relevant statistics that meet users' needs. 

Deadline: 10 April

International and Defense

 Soft power: a strategy for UK success? - Foreign Affairs Committee

The Foreign Affairs Committee are exploring the extent and effectiveness of the UK's soft power. It will consider the UK's unique soft power strengths as well as scrutinise the work of the Government's new Soft Power Council and any subsequent strategy to strengthen UK soft power. 

Deadline: 3 March 

Undersea Cables – National Security Strategy (Joint Committee)

Concern has been growing about the risk of undersea cabled being sabotaged by foreign states. This inquiry examines the UK’s ability to defend our undersea infrastructure, alongside its national resilience in the event of a major, protracted disruption to our internet connection.

Deadline: 6 March 

The UK-EU Reset – European Affairs Committee

This inquiry will examine the reset of UK-EU relations that the Government is pursuing. The inquiry has two main themes: the substance of the reset, involving questions about what the reset is or should be; and the reset process, involving questions about how the Government pursues it with the EU and the role of interested parties in the UK.

Deadline: 7 March 

The UK's future relationship with the US - International Relations and Defence Committee 

The Lords International Relations and Defence Committee is assessing the state of the transatlantic relationship, explroring the impact a second Trump Administration may have on it and what trends in US foreign policy are likely to persist and influence the relationship beyond the next four years. 

Deadline: 14 March 

Legal and Constitution

 Transnational repression in the UK – Human Rights (Joint Committee) Inquiry

This inquiry will explore how transnational repression affects the human rights of people living in the UK. It will examine the effectiveness of the UK’s current legal and policy frameworks in relation to transnational repression, and the assistance available to the victims of such attacks.

Deadline 24 February 

Civil legal aid: Towards a sustainable future – MOJ consultation

This consultation considers increases to civil legal aid fees for Housing and Debt work, and Immigration and Asylum work. We are also seeking further evidence on potential changes to some aspects of contractual requirements.

Deadline: 21 March 

Prisons, probation and rehabilitation in Wales - Welsh Affairs Committee

This inquiry is looking at the challenges and opportunities that are presented by Wales' unique constitutional arrangement regarding prisons, examining where the UK and Welsh Governments are working well together, as well as identifying areas for improvement.

Deadline: 21 March 

Sustainability, Net Zero and Environment

Implementing the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation – DfT consultation

The Department for Transport is seeking views on the government’s proposed approach to implement the globally agreed international aviation carbon offsetting scheme (CORSIA) in the UK.

Deadline: 24 February 

Review of Ofgem - DESNZ consultation 

DESNZ are seeking views on the kind of regulator Ofgem needs to be to meet future challenges and protect customers. 

Deadline: 28 February 

Developing an energy smart data scheme – DESNZ consultation

DESNZ are seeking views on the potential for developing a Smart Data scheme in the energy sector. They are seeking views on the current energy landscape and the potential, scope, opportunities, barriers and risks to developing an energy smart data scheme.

Deadline: 10 March 

Environmental Assessment Levels for the amine-based carbon capture process – Environment Agency consultation

The Environment Agency has opened a consultation into the development of Environmental Assessment Levels (EALs) for the amine-based carbon capture process

Deadline: 13 March 

Industrial transition in Scotland - Scottish Affairs Committee 

This inquiry will look at Scotland's industrial past, how its industrial landscape has changed over time, and the extent to which "invest 2035" is geared towards the challenges and opportunities facing Scotland today.

Draft National Policy Statement for nuclear energy generation – DESZ consultation

DESNZ are consulting on the draft of the new Nuclear National Policy Statement (NPS) EN-7, following the previous consultation on a proposed approach to siting new nuclear power stations beyond 2024 which ended in March 2024.

Deadline: 3 April 

Review of the Fuel Poverty strategy - DESNZ consultation 

DESNS are seeking views on a new strategy to deliver warmer homes, including the future role of the fuel poverty target and how fuel poverty is measured. 

Deadline: 4 April 

Building support for the energy transition - ESNZ Committee 

The Energy Security and Net Zero Committee are assessing whether the Government is communicating effectivel so the public has the same understanding of the objectives and benefits of the energy transition. 

Deadline: 8 April 

The cost of energy - ESNZ Committee 

The ESNZ Committee are interested in how energy bills can be reduced for consumers. It will also investigate back-billing and how to improve consumer protection. 

Deadline: 8 April 

Extending the UK Emissions Trading Scheme cap beyond 2030 -  DESNZ Consultation

DESNZ are seeking views on extending the UK Emissions Trading Scheme beyond the end of Phase 1 at midnight on 31 December 2030.

Deadline: 9 April

Improving the energy performance of privately rented homes: 2025 update - DESNZ consultation

DESNZ are seeking views on the government's proposals to raise minimum energy efficiency standards for privately rented homes in England and Wales by 2030. 

Deadline: 2 May

Parliament for Researchers: free online training sessions from UK Parliament

The UK Parliament's Knowledge Exchange Unit holds online training sessions on how to use research to engage with Parliament. Sessions are tailored both to different roles and career stages, and to the varied ways in which academics can engage with the policymaking process - for example, how to engage with Select Committees, and how to write for a parliamentary audience.
