Remote Desktop and VPN

LSE now offers remote access to many of its services without the need to use the VPN or remote desktop. These include:

Remote Desktop

Other resources are available from the Remote Desktop, including:

  • Shared Drives (H, P & M drives)
  • SITS
  • Business Objects
  • Tableau
  • Oracle
  • Data analysis software
  • EndNote

DTS recommends you use our new browser-based remote desktop, which has enhanced protection.  All major web browsers are supported, (Chrome/Edge/Safari/Firefox). You will however, first need to request access, which you can do by completing the form in the link below.

Once you receive approval, you can access the remote desktop here Remote Desktop Web Client (msapproxy.net), which we would recommend bookmarking, or:

1) By visiting your webmail, clicking on the app menu in the top left corner (the 9 dots in a square shape)

1a

2) Then click "LSE Desktop" or click on "All Apps" at the bottom if you can't see it in the list.

2a

3) The new remote desktop will then open in a new table and prompt you for your username, (N.B. please your LSE email address as your username), and password.

VPN

Whilst most users will no longer need to use the VPN in almost all cases, some staff may still require access.

If you work in a Professional Services Division, (e.g. ARD, Finance, HR or Estates), you may find it is preferable to access some of these resources via the VPN, or if you need to access large datasets stored on the LSE network.

If you require access to the VPN, you will need to have applied for and have been granted a licence.  Please see the information below on how to install and use our VPN service.
