I’m normally tucked away in the counselling office seeing staff and students, so I’m honoured to be nominated for the 2021 Black History Month Staff Showcase amongst such wonderful and talented colleagues at LSE. This year’s theme says it all really: “Black365 celebrates Black people every day”. Black people and Black issues deserve to be featured all year round. Collective stamina and work is needed 365 days a year to get us to that reality.
So far, this year’s Black History Month has been a more reflective one for me. Connecting with my community to nourish ourselves in an intense and tiring year, share our stories, and be joyful. I get my inspiration from our culture and the generations before me who overcame so much - I strive to do my part for the next.
