ErikaBrodnock

My name is Erika Brodnock and I am a a serial entrepreneur, a phd candidate, and researcher in The Inclusion Initiative here at LSE. I am also Black female from Streatham (a very working class background) who is a mother to five children.

This Black History Month, I celebrate the everyday heroes in the Black community who work tirelessly to support UK infrastructure, whilst raising children, caring for elders and enduring micro-aggressions, and sometimes downright racism. Those who remain, as Dave aptly said “Loud in their laughter, silent in their suffering.” I am in an incredibly privileged position to be a scholar at one of the UK’s top institutions and I am proud to use that privilege to undertake research that provides a voice to some of the unsung heroes within the Black community, while advocating for change.

Black 365 is about telling our stories, being heard and creating a future that doesn’t repeat the mistakes of the past. We stand on the shoulders of the giants and look forward to creating a future of equity and inclusion for the generations to come.
