Gender Pay Gap

In 2017 the UK government introduced new reporting regulations under the Equality Act 2010 requiring companies with over 250 employees to disclose their gender pay gap annually.

The 'LSE Gender Pay Gap Report 2025' sets our results for 2025 in line with the legislative requirements. In accordance with government requirements, the report was published on 30 March 2026 and refers to snapshot data from 31 March 2025.

The report discusses:

  • The context of the report in terms of timing
  • Gender Pay Gap results and analysis
  • A breakdown by staff category
  • The role of bonuses
  • What LSE is doing to address inequalities in pay
  • Ongoing and current actions.

As of 31 March 2025, LSE had 4,588 staff in post, of which 2,540 (55%) were women and 2,048 (45%) were men. Percentage wise, this is in line with the last two reporting period (ie, 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2024).
