The CIVICA University Alliance annual Presidents' Committee Meeting took place from the 11th-12th June at SGH's campus in Warsaw, Poland. The meeting brought together the alliance's university leaders to reflect on previous year's activities, and to plan future initiatives and developments.
Following the Paris Dialogue on the Future of Higher Education and the Global Forum in Madrid, attendees discussed strategic priorities and the importance of collaborative initiatives building on the alliance's 72,000 students and 13,000 faculty members.
LSE President Prof Larry Kramer, Prof Emma McCoy, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), and Prof Susana Mourato, Vice-President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research) represented the School.
One of the important projects discussed was the call for multidisciplinary research hubs to support teams across CIVICA institutions to undertake innovative and impactful research projects. The intention is to create an opportunity for faculty teams to work together for a longer period of time, with the goal to eventually apply for larger grants (such as Horizon, ERC or national funding) and build longer-term collaboration.
Applications for CIVICA Research Hubs are now open. If you would like to submit a project involving at least four CIVICA universities to receive seed funding for 18 months to build your team, start research, and develop a plan for securing external grants, check all details of the call for proposals here.
Applications close on the 17th October 2025.
