What is futurEU competition?
The futurEU Competition is an initiative aimed at fostering dialogue and discourse on the future of the European Union. It seeks to engage students and PhD researchers from CIVICA member universities in addressing EU-related challenges through a structured competition.
This year’s #futurEUCompetition is themed "Now or Never: Enhancing the Future of EU Competitiveness" . With the new European Commission now approved, the stage is set for innovative ideas to steer the EU toward a more competitive, resilient, and sustainable future.
The Challenge: How can the EU strengthen its global position, foster innovation, and achieve sustainable growth? Your mission is to craft a bold proposal that addresses these key issues and present it as a potential policy initiative. Collaborate, strategize, and lead the way to make your vision count.
How to apply?
The competition is open to students enrolled in any CIVICA member university for the academic year 2024-2025. Participants must be pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree.
The competition consists of two rounds:
- Written Round: Teams submit a short summary in the form of Threads of their solution. Selected teams will expand this into a policy brief.
- Oral Round: The top eight teams present their policy brief to a panel of judges. The oral round is planned to be held in Berlin on April 25, 2025, subject to funding and public health conditions.
Registration is open to all students and PhD researchers of the CIVICA Alliance. You can register with a team or individually.
