Prof. Mukherjee's research focuses on the grand strategies of rising powers and their impact on international security and order, with an empirical specialization in the Asia-Pacific region.
Thanks to the support of the Global Research Fund and Ashoka University, he co-organised the two-day “Ashoka-LSE Diplomatic Studies Workshop” for early career researchers working on India’s diplomatic studies.
Over 120 applications were received, from which eight were selected for the workshop. Prominent established faculty from around the world were invited to serve as discussants for the workshop such as Dr Berenice Guyot-Rechard, Dr Carolien Stolte, and Dr Priya Chacko.

Workshop participants found the experience of presenting their work intellectually enriching and some even managed to publish their edited manuscript since.
This event created a unique opportunity to foster the intellectual and professional development of junior scholars, contributed to the development of a networked community of researchers and the plan is to continue to hold this annually to bring together researchers from India and abroad, as well as from LSE and Ashoka to further develop diplomatic studies across the UK-India research landscape.
