This summer, LSE is piloting a new programme to give you the opportunity to take part in an international summer school. The Global Summer Studentship will contribute toward the total cost of your studies at either Humboldt University in Berlin, or SGH Warsaw School of Economics.
Applications for funding must be received no later than Thursday 8th May 11.59pm. The form may be closed before this time if demand greatly exceeds available funding.
If your application for funding is successful, you will need to apply to your chosen institution by 15th May.
At LSE, we want to our students to be able to have an international experience during their studies. For some students, this means participating in an exchange programme, but we know that a full year overseas will not be suitable for everyone. We also know that not everyone can afford the additional costs that come with taking part in international activities, so this year we are trying out a new bursary programme.
By participating in an international summer school we hope that you will:
- Have the opportunity to gain a new perspective on your studies or try out something you would not be able to study at LSE
- Experience student life in another country and engage with students from around the world in a new setting
- Examine your own learning through a new cultural lens
- Develop your independence, resilience, intercultural awareness and other skills that will contribute to your employability
- Have an amazing summer in a European capital city!
All successfull applicants will receive £500.
If you are in receipt of a needs-based, income assessed bursary or scholarship, you will receive £850.
Examples include the LSE Bursary, the Care Experienced and Estranged Student Bursary or a needs-based scholarship for international students awarded by LSE.
You can apply if you are currently in the first or second year of your undergraduate degree. Final year students are not eligible for this bursary. Depending on the volume of applications, first year students may be prioritised for funding.
Just complete a short application form indicating your choice of programme and explaining why you want to take part.
If your application for funding is successful, you will then apply directly to the partner institution for a place on their programme.
Once your place is confirmed, you will sign a funding agreement and we will transfer the money to your bank account. You will then be responsible for making all arrangements relating to your participation including travel, accommodation, insurance, visa application (if applicable) and meeting payment deadlines.
