Our Offerings

LSE Innovation and Impact has the expertise and experience to help in every step of the commercialisation process - from evaluating the commercial potential of your research to negotiating licence deals, protecting intellectual property, and developing new businesses.

Our team can support you by:

  • Assessing the viability of new innovations.
If you have a novel idea, process or software from your research, you can discuss this confidentially with LSE Innovation and Impact. We will work with you to determine customers and beneficiaries, define your product or service and value proposition, and plan a sustainable funding strategy.

  • Offering intellectual property (IP) support
We will work with you to assess IP rights in your research, how best to protect these and agree on a future IP strategy. We can also provide support with IP clauses in research and collaboration contracts. Please see the resources page for further information about IP.

  • Market validation support
We provide dedicated support to plan your market validation activities, including who to contact, how to approach them, what to ask and how to follow up. This is a crucial step to progress your innovation.

  • Identifying grant funding and training opportunities
There are many sources of funding to develop an innovation from your research. There are also lots of entrepreneurial training programmes on offer for academics. We can help you identify suitable opportunities and support your application. Please see the funding tab for further details.

  • Identifying the best route to market and supporting the launch
We will discuss different paths to market for your innovation, including licensing or setting up different types of ventures.

  • Creation of new ventures
We support business planning, including finding a team, advisors, funding, writing a business plan, financial planning, pitching and more.

  • Providing routes to access investment
We have built relationships with a network of external investors. Please talk to us if you would like to be introduced to a suitable investor for your innovation.

  • Supporting licencing agreements and other innovation contracts
We can identify suitable licensees for your innovation and negotiate suitable licence terms. We can also provide templates for other contracts, including NDAs, data agreements and MoUs for innovation work.
