Student Hub FAQs

When will I be able to see my personal teaching timetable?

Your personal timetable will be published in LSE for You (LFY) on Friday 25 September. Your timetable will be available once you have selected your courses in LFY. During the first few weeks of term, there may be changes to your timetable for some courses to make sure you are offered maximum flexibility in your course selection.

Your timetable will be available on Student Hub and LFY on the same day.

How do I access the Student Hub?

You can download the Student Hub from the App Store (iOS devices) or Google Play (Android). The Student Hub is also available as a web app

Current students can download and access the Student Hub at any time.

How can I follow additional channels?

There are lots of channels on the Hub you can follow, including your department, LSE Events, the Students' Union, the Language Centre and much more!

Start by searching for channels that you might be interested in using the search, accessible via your news feed. Tap on the magnifying glass to view some recommended channels, or and type in a keyword such as "media" or "economics”. You can then tap on a channel you’re interested in and choose to follow it.

Can I book appointments with academics via the app?

Yes, you can search for academics and book appointments with them (which are sometimes known as office hours). Not all academics use Student Hub, but most do. You'll also be able to book appointments with other areas of LSE, such as one-to-one appointments with LSE LIFE advisers.

Can I sync the Student Hub calendar with my personal calendar?

Yes, you can. Open the Student Hub app on mobile or web. Select the three-dots menu on the top right of your screen and follow the instructions on how to sync your calendar.

You can sync your Hub calendar with your iCal, Google Calendar or your Outlook calendar.

Why can’t I sync my Student Hub calendar with my personal calendar on iOS?

Check you have the "Push" option turned on in your iPhone Calendar settings.

  1. Go to Settings > Password & Accounts > Fetch New Data

  2. "Push" should be turned on for your iCloud/iPhone Calendar.

  3. “Fetch” should be turned on for the LSE Student Hub calendar.

  4. Please also check the "Fetch" schedule, which should be set to any value other than "Manual"

If you still can’t sync your calendar, check that Calendar and Reminders are turned on for the LSE Student Hub on your iPhone.

  1. Go to Settings > Password & Accounts > LSE Student Hub calendar

  2. Make sure “Calendars” and “Reminders” are turned on

I synced my Student Hub calendar with my Mac calendar. All 4 calendars showed up in my sidebar, but now I’m only seeing the “My Events” calendar. What can I do to fix this?

The issue could be with your local Mac OS X configuration. Try a force-refresh on your Mac calendar – for help with this, visit Apple’s support page

Still having trouble? Contact us using the Help & Feedback option in the Student Hub menu.

Why is my calendar showing the wrong times for my classes and lectures?

This issue might be caused by the time zone settings on your phone. There are two ways you can change your settings to make sure you're using the right time zone - by changing your device setting or changing your calendar setting.

Device settings

  1. In iOS you can see the setting in:  Settings > General > Date & Time By default it says “Set Automatically” (using local network time) If this is overridden, then local time will not display and cause the issue.

  2. On Android, open your device's Clock app > More Settings > Clock Choose GMT as your home time zone or change the date and time manually.

Calendar settings

  1. In iOS 12, go to Settings > Calendar > Time Zone Override By default, this should be set to ‘Off’, but check this hasn't been overridden

  2. On Android, open the Google Calendar app > Menu Settings > General You can change the device time zone here.

I’ve exported my Student Hub calendar to my Google calendar. My timetable has updated in the Student Hub. Why has my Google calendar not updated?

Google Calendar only refreshes data from external calendars (such as the Student Hub calendar) every 12 to 24 hours.

It’s best to keep track of your important events in the Student Hub app to make sure you don’t miss anything!

If you’re experiencing issues that you think aren’t related to Google’s refresh period, try the following steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Remove the Student Hub calendar from your (Google) calendar completely

  2. Sync the Student Hub calendar again following the instructions in the app

Still having trouble? Contact us using the Help & Feedback option in the Student Hub menu.

Why can’t I view my timetable in the calendar?

Try the following steps to resolve the problem:

  1. Please force close the app (close, not minimise only) and then open the app and see if the issue still occurs

  2. Please log in and out of the app and see if the issue still occurs

  3. Please uninstall the app, reinstall it and see if the issue still occurs

This should resolve your issue, but if you’re still having trouble, contact us using the Help & Feedback option in the Student Hub menu.

I need help with something not listed here/my query is still not resolved

If you still need help, you can contact us using the Help & Feedback option in the Student Hub menu.

You can also share any general feedback you have about the app. Let us know about something that needs fixing on campus or tell us about any other aspect of your experience at LSE via Student Hub!
