Teaching and Learning Spaces Strategy

The School has launched an Education and Student Experience strategic project to create LSE's first Teaching and Learning Spaces Strategy.

To be completed by the end of this academic year, the work will directly inform the design of new spaces in 61 Aldwych by May 2026, as well as strategically guide the School's significant ongoing investment in developing and refurbishing education spaces, AV, and associated infrastructure across campus.

More about the project and timelines

The project will conduct research (both externally and internally) over the next six months and consult widely with departments and other stakeholders during Winter Term.

It will draw on thinking and ideas from our community, UK and global best practice examples, sector trends, and the latest thinking about pedagogy, technology and physical and digital spaces.

Project delivery

At the end of this year, we will have a strategic framework and suite of practical, implementable space concepts to support our foreseeable future breadth of teaching delivery, independent learning, and the broader student experience.

As well as guiding and speeding up decision making, these concepts will ensure that investment in our teaching spaces benefits from best available thinking, while remaining anchored in the needs of departmental teaching as they evolve over the next 5-10 years.
