The first few days in any new role can be overwhelming in terms of the amount of new information, but don't worry, Organisational Learning are here to help with some key learning and resources for your first few weeks at LSE. On this page you'll find all the information you'll need and signposts to key resources with regards to your learning and induction in your first months.

Induction learning suite
There are certain things that everyone who joins LSE needs to know and these induction e-learning modules are strongly advised for all new starters. The e-learning will take about 3-4 hours to complete, but you can do this in bite sized pieces, and you don’t need to get all done in your first weeks.
To help our knowledge, understanding and skills in this important area, the School has developed its own Equality and diversity online module.
All new starters should complete this module within 3 months of starting at LSE.
What the module covers

the main principles of equality and diversity and legislation;

how equality and diversity impacts on us all

outlines the key resources and policies
The course should take about 30 minutes and you are able to leave the module and then return to the same point, so it is not necessary to complete it all at one time.
There is an assessment at the end of the module which allows users to assess their knowledge.
Getting started
Once you've accessed the module, click on the link under the new users section of the sign-in screen to show the Self-registration panel.
Complete all the fields, remember to give your LSE email address as your username and select the Register button.
You will then receive an email confirmation message with a new password that you can use to sign in. The first time you sign in you may be asked to enter a new password. If so, remember that your password needs to be at least six characters long and should ideally include both letters and numbers.
Confidentiality of results
The results of your indivdual course will be anonymous. A record will be held of your results when you complete the module. This will include when the module was started and completed, along with scores of the module assessment.
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, we will only use them for statistical reports which monitor uptake and completion of the module. This information will be made available to Heads of Department, Centre Directors and Divisional Service Leaders.
This online module has been designed for the whole School community with the aim of increasing understanding of the Ethics Code, the range of policies that support the ethics principles, how they can be applied, and the importance of creating a culture in which individuals can and do raise any concerns that they may have. The module takes 20 - 30 minutes to complete and can be accessed on mobile devices. You can access the module at:

LSE is strongly committed to sustainability, as such, it is a key principle of both our LSE 2030 Strategy and the Ethics Code. This online module has been designed for the whole School community with the aim of increasing understanding of Sustainability at the LSE, from how we are reducing our environmental impacts to how research and education are contributing to the wider sustainability agenda and the many ways you can personally take action. With useful links to carbon footprint calculators and interactive tools you can delve into the world of sustainability at LSE or fast click your way through the course. You can access the module at:

In this module you'll find out how to keep both you and LSE safe as you work online. The module takes around 30 - 45 minutes to complete and can be accessed here.
It is important that workstations are set up and used correctly in order to prevent repetitive strain and other injuries associated with using computers, laptops etc for work. To help staff set up and use their workstations to prevent injuries, the School strongly encourages all staff who use computers for a significant part of their work to complete a workstation assessment. This is done using online software called ErgoPro There are assessments for the office and home. Find out more here.
Flying start induction
Flying Start induction is a one-day in-person event (11am - 4pm, on campus) designed for staff new to the organisation and staff returning to work following a period of extended leave.

Effective behaviours framework
Designed to support the principles laid out in the LSE Ethics code, the Effective Behaviours framework sets out the range of behaviours that are expected of all professional service staff at LSE. Campus tours
We run regular campus tours during term time, which are very popular with new starters. The tours don't just show you around the campus, but tell you about its history, development and future.
