Staff paid on LSE / Higher Education scales

Most staff employed by the School are paid on the LSE single spine, implemented as part of the School's pay framework agreement in 2006.

Pay awards are negotiated at a national level by the new Joint Negotiating Committee for Higher Education Staff (new JNCHES), which includes representatives of the Universities and Colleges Employers’ Association (UCEA) and Higher Education unions, including the University and College Union (UCU), UNISON and Unite.

The School will implement any relevant uplifts to pay as a result of increases to the London Living Wage. This will be done as soon as possible following the announcement of the new rate by the London Living Wage Foundation. Adjustments will take effect from 1 November each year. If, for operational reasons, the changes are applied after this date, the increase will be backdated to 1 November.

Hourly Paid Research and Support Staff:

August increments

Salaried staff in Bands 1 to 8 and hourly-paid support and researchers receive automatic increments in August if they are below the standard maximum for their salary band.
