Donor Relations team

The Donor Relations team works to develop and improve stewardship and events for the School’s key fundraising priorities, ensuring donors remain engaged with the School before, during and after the life of their gift.

We work closely with the Major GiftsFoundation and Business Partnerships, and the Annual Fund teams to ensure that LSE Advancement provides quality, consistent and coordinated stewardship to the School’s philanthropic donors.

We also support these teams through the coordination of stewardship and cultivation events that aim to engage and thank our supporters in the most appropriate way.

Every year over 100 philanthropic scholarships are awarded to LSE students at all levels. We ensure that these donors are engaged throughout the scholarship by coordinating thank you letters from their recipients, arranging face to face meetings, and hosting the annual Donors and Scholars Reception, where donors can meet their recipients, learn about the impact of their gifts and share their experiences with other donors.

Campus development

As the campus expands and improves for staff and students alike, we work closely with the Development teams and Estates Division to provide our supporters with naming opportunities throughout the campus. We keep donors up to date with current developments, invite them to relevant events, such as the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony or Grand Opening, and create signage to name specific rooms or buildings – providing permanent recognition for these generous gifts.

Much of our philanthropic income is directed towards our top-quality research. We can support academic departments in providing our donors with regular updates on their work, arranging meetings and inviting donors to relevant events.

LSE has a comprehensive legacy programme and we are incredibly grateful to those that have the foresight to leave a gift to the School in their will. We thank these donors through our Legacy Circle programme, which consists of those that have told us of their intention to leave a gift. We work closely with the Communications and Development teams to regularly produce a biannual legacy newsletter, organise an annual lunch and keep them engaged through invitations to relevant events and public lectures.

The Donor Relations team is responsible for the coordination of all LSE Advancement development events. We organise a variety of stewardship events, including:

• the Donors and Scholars Reception, held annually in March to thank our scholarship supporters
• the Benefactors’ Board dinner, an annual event to thank our donors whose philanthropic gifts have exceeded £1 million
• the Legacy Futures Lunch, held annually at the end of the academic year to show our gratitude
• the Leadership Giving event, a new event to celebrate our regular donors to the Annual Fund at the leadership level
• the Annual Fund Donor Reception, an event to thank all of our Annual Fund donors.

This list is not exhaustive and we also organise other ad-hoc stewardship events, such as a private view of The Women’s Library @ LSE exhibition, scholarship lunches with donors and their recipients, and exclusive donor receptions at existing events.

As well as stewardship events, we support the Development teams and Foundation and Business Partnerships in the coordination of cultivation events for the School’s fundraising priorities, helping to showcase our best giving opportunities.
