If you wish to create a dashboard using your own data you will need a Tableau Creator Licence which will enable you to set-up Tableau Desktop on your pc. Up-to-date costs and further information on how to purchase a licence can be obtained by emailing the Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist in DTS via tech.support@lse.ac.uk. The BI specialist will also provide advice on your responsibilities as a Tableau Developer/Creator at LSE. These include:
- Ensuring you install the correct version of Tableau Desktop and regularly update the version in line with the requirements of Tableau Server.
- Attend Tableau Creator meetings every two months to keep abreast of the latest Tableau developments in the School.
- Create all your dashboards in line with the current School Style Guide for visualisations.
- Ensure your project folders are created and used in line with current guidance from the BI Specialist.
- Contribute constructively to discussions on the development and use of Tableau Server.
Once you have purchased a Tableau Desktop licence you will become a Tableau Creator. This means you can start to develop your own dashboards and publish them to the server. Further advice on role of Tableau Creator/Developer alongside training and development advice for Tableau Creators can be found here.
