Race in the Academy was a listening and reflection event organised jointly by EmbRace and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team and chaired by Alex Voorhoeve, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Vice President for Faculty Development.

The event, held on 9 September 2026, brought together academic and professional services staff to reflect on the experiences of Black and other ethnic minority colleagues amid intense public scrutiny and debate. It provided a supportive space for listening, sharing experiences and considering how LSE can uphold open inquiry while fostering respectful, inclusive and safe learning and working environments.
