EDI Strategy

LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university.

EDI Strategy and Implementation Plan

LSE’s commitment to embedding and mainstreaming equity, diversity and inclusion is set out in our 2024 - 2028 EDI Strategy and Implementation Plan.

The strategy informs a focus on the following overarching objectives:

1) Advancing equal Opportunities - Focus on diversifying our staff and student body by attracting and retaining diverse talent.

2) Engaging with LSE's communities - Increasing equity diversity and inclusion through fostering good campus relations.

3) Staff and student experience - Strengthening our community by creating belonging through inclusive education and employment.

4) Safeguarding the community - Ensuring an inclusive environment through a robust reporting and support system with preventative measures through training and educational programmes.

5) Research with purpose - Enhance LSE’s impact through tackling structural barriers to research through enhanced financial and leadership support.

6) Embed EDI values - Ensuring holistic success of LSE’s strategy by embedding EDI in the university’s operational function, financial commitments as well as LSE’s brand.

The School’s EDI strategy should be read in conjunction with the LSE Strategy 2030 and the LSE Ethics Code.

EDI Training Strategy 2026

This strategy supports LSE’s institutional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion by embedding EDI principles into training and learning and development opportunities in all parts of the School.

This strategy’s purpose is to provide strategic direction for the training offer provided by the EDI Team and to ensure an effective response to requests for training by internal stakeholders, divisions and departments. The EDI Division provides an extensive list of EDI Training courses covering a range of topics (see Annex 1 in strategy document) either in-house, in collaboration with other divisions and departments or through external providers.

To ensure that our EDI training offer continues to address key challenges and needs by our students and staff with the most effective approach, this strategy includes:

  • A theory of change for implementing EDI training effectively and maximising impact
  • Alignment with the EDI strategy and LSE Shaping the World strategy
  • Concrete outputs and actions
  • An implementation process for bespoke training requests
