Resources

Workplace Adjustments

There is now a new set of resources on the Staff Disability Toolkit, designed to make it easier to work through workplace adjustments with your manager.

A key part of this is the Workplace Adjustments Planner. It starts with what is getting in the way at work, rather than expecting you to arrive at a conversation already knowing which adjustment you need. It can then help you and your manager explore options, agree actions and review adjustments over time.

There’s also a shorter Workplace Adjustments Record for recording already agreed adjustments, a detailed Workplace Barriers Guide, and a Manager Checklist to support the conversation from the manager’s side.

Adjustments Guidance for Neurodivergent Staff

Many DAWN members have informed us that one of the principal obstacles they face to requesting adjustments from their managers is a lack of certainty about what they can ask for, and a fear of being perceived as unreasonable for making certain requests. This guide aims to offer members a list of accommodations that they might want to request from colleagues to help them feel comfortable and fully included in the workplace. We accept that this list is not exhaustive, and that every individual will have their own needs, but hope it gives you the confidence to request any such reasonable adjustments as you need.
