Prof. Emma McCoy, our Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) led our first official group visit to Peking University (PKU) in May 2023 since LSE's last official trip in November 2019. She was welcomed by Prof. Gong Qihuang, PKU's President who visited LSE in June.
Prof McCoy was accompanied by Professor Paul Kelly, Dr Brendan Smith, Dr Neil McLean, and Dr Catherine Xiang who had fruitful discussions with colleagues from various departments including Statistics and Government. The visit was comprised of institutional meetings and parallel engagements, some with our local alumni groups.
Peking University is one of the most prestigious public research universities in China and wider Asia. It is one of the largest research-intensive universities in the world and one of LSE’s institutional partners. LSE works with PKU to advance research and education collaborations in areas such as environmental sciences, public administration and international affairs.
Formal links with PKU began in March 2003, with our first joint programme launch in 2004 – the LSE-PKU Summer School. The collaborations between LSE and PKU include joint programmes such as our Double Master’s Degree in Environmental Policy, Technology and Health.
