As part of GY360: Sustainability in Practice, LSE students stepped beyond the classroom and into the world of sustainable entrepreneurship.
Delivered in partnership with LSE Generate, the course combines academic learning with real-world experience. Students were placed with sustainability-focused startups from the LSE Generate community across the UK and around the world, giving them the opportunity to contribute to live projects, work alongside founders, and explore the practical challenges and opportunities of building organisations that create positive environmental and social impact.
Alongside their placements, students created a final piece of work reflecting on their learning. The podcasts featured here showcase conversations with founders, innovators and sustainability leaders tackling some of today's most pressing challenges, from biodiversity loss and nature finance to sustainable packaging, impact entrepreneurship and corporate net zero.
These discussions offer a unique insight into the realities of sustainability in practice, through the eyes of both the entrepreneurs driving change and the students learning from them.
About the Course
GY360: Sustainability in Practice is a practical, skills-focused course led by the Department of Geography and Environment and delivered in partnership with LSE Generate. Students work with businesses where sustainability sits at the heart of their operations, developing professional skills, industry knowledge and hands-on experience through real projects and placements.
By the end of the course, students gain a deeper understanding of the sustainability sector, experience working with business leaders on real-world challenges, and build valuable skills for their future careers.
