The deadline to register to vote is 11.59pm on Tuesday 18 June.

If you've already registered to vote, you don't need to do so again unless you have changed your name, address or nationality.

How to vote

  • Vote in person
You'll need to go to your designated polling station on the day of the election. Once you've registered to vote, you'll receive your polling card which will include details of where you'll need to go to vote. You can also find your polling station online.

You will need to bring a valid form of ID to vote.

If you don't have a valid form of ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply is 5pm on 26 June 2024.
  • Vote by post
To vote by post, you need to need to apply online by 5pm on 19 June 2024 to vote in the General Election.

You'll need to make sure you have registered to vote before applying for a postal vote.
  • Vote by proxy
If you can't get to a polling station in person, you can nominate someone to vote on your behalf. This is called voting by proxy. You'll need to apply online by 5pm on 26 June to vote by proxy. Find out more about how to vote by proxy.

Where should I vote?

If you are a student from the UK, you can choose whether to vote at either your term-time or home address. You cannot vote in more than one location in a UK General Election, and you'll need to make sure you've registered to vote at the address you decide to vote at.
