The School has launched new functionality in Student LfY which enables students to generate their own intermediate transcripts.
This important development is part of the Education and Student Experience Administrative Systems and Process Enhancement Project, which has now replaced both PEARA and SAAP.
Current students who have at least one ratified final result are now able to self-generate an intermediate transcript in the same way that they can a certificate of enrolment or certificate of course selection.
Intermediate transcripts are typically used by second and third year UG students as official confirmation of results from previous years, third year students on four-year programmes, students in the second year of a two-year MSc or MRes programmes, and part-time MSc students.
What does this mean for students and staff?
This change will have a positive impact on students and staff, enabling students to access an intermediate transcript instantly, as well as saving significant time within the Student Records Team. Initial feedback on the update has been positive.
How will it work?
In addition to generating the intermediate transcripts for themselves, students can request that their intermediate transcript is emailed directly to a third party such as an employer, internship provider or other educational institution.
Plus, transcript information and eligibility are now displayed at the bottom of the final results screen in Student LfY, guiding students to the appropriate document section or service based on their status. This means that, for the first time, students can access their transcript from the results screen and receive relevant guidance depending on their status. For example:
-
If a student is eligible for an intermediate transcript, they'll be signposted to the 'My Documents' section of Student LfY in order to generate one.
-
If the student has been awarded, they'll be signposted to Parchment so they can access their final transcript.
- If a student does not have any final results, they'll be advised they are not yet eligible for a transcript.
-
If students require a hard-copy intermediate transcript they can still visit the Student Services Centre where one can be produced on demand. If students require a hard-copy to be posted to a third party they can request this via the Student Services enquiry form.
All Student Services webpages, and enquiry form, have been updated to reflect the changes to this process.
There has been no change to how final transcripts are managed and will be continued to be issued via Parchment once a student completes their programme and made available within around a week of results been released or sooner.
