Onboarding New Starters

Process and guidance for managers

guidance for managers about the onboarding process

At LSE the journey of our new starters is very important to us. This journey begins with the acceptance of an offer of employment and continues until day they start the job. We want to ensure that our new starters have a swift and enjoyable experience, and that we keep them excited about joining LSE.

Line managers are supported by professional service divisions at each step of the new starter onboarding process. A successful and swift onboarding process requires line managers and professional service divisions to work together and complete all requirements in a timely manner.

The sections below summarise onboarding process for different employment categories and provide links to useful guidance documents and relevant forms for line managers. There is also a list of useful contacts. In all cases, staff are not permitted to undertake any work until their Right to Work check has been completed on or before their first day.
