Review and promotion are a critical part of any academic’s journey at LSE. Decisions about promotion proposals and success at Interim Review, Major Review and promotion are made solely on merit, based on a staff member’s research and scholarship, teaching, and the contribution they make to the work of the Department and wider School.
LSE’s Promotions Committee, made up of professoriate from across LSE disciplines, recognises that successful academic careers can take a variety of forms - and that the individual trajectories of candidates need to be evaluated holistically. The process considers equity, diversity and inclusion throughout, and recognises nonstandard and interrupted careers.
