Contribution pay recognises and rewards the outstanding performance of individual members of staff and in particular, their exceptional contributions towards the furtherance of department and School objectives. It can can be awarded to staff in the form of a recurrent or non-recurrent payment.

Education Probationary Review Scheme 

This scheme is applicable to new appointments under the terms of the Education Career Track and operates in place of the Interim and Major Review processes for academic staff on the New Academic Career.

Professional services staff

Career Development Reviews

The CDR scheme for professional services staff is an annual review to set objectives, review performance against the last year’s objectives, discuss development needs and career aspirations.

Grading Process (HERA)

HERA (Higher Education Role Analysis) is the system used by the school to evaluate roles during the recruitment and promotion of professional services staff.

Jobs are assessed using a scoring system that explores examples, supported by evidence, of the duties and responsibilities involved.

Review Periods 

Review periods are used to enable managers to monitor progress during the initial stages of an appointment as well as allowing new starters to adapt to their new environment.

Promotions 

Promotion for support staff will be based on the role an individual carries out changing significantly, evidenced by a HERA re-evaluation of the role.
