Thank you for this thoughtful nomination. Especially as this year has involved more emotional labour than usual for many people of colour in higher education. Let us see if, beyond the statements and tweets, individuals and institutions will take the time to do the work and learn some uncomfortable truths about preferentiality and power structures that champion some and exhaust others.
Over the last twenty years I have had the privilege to work with some hugely talented and committed people across the world, to influence teaching content, undertake research that has changed policy and help shape funding opportunities – all in a bid to challenge the status quo. I have done this quietly, what really excites me about the next generation is that they are doing it loudly!
