The Organisational Learning and Development Team partnered with EmbRace to advance race equity at LSE by supporting the career progression and confidence of BAME staff through mentoring opportunities. This initiative also aligns with LSE’s broader strategic commitments, including the Race Equity Framework, Athena SWAN action plan, and EDI Strategy.

Fair Recruitment Adviser (FRA) Scheme

Designed to tackle underrepresentation of minority ethnic candidates, these FRA's play a key role throughout the recruitment process by acting as a member of the selection and interview panel for senior PSS roles.

Culture Week at LSE
31 March - 04 April 2025
LSE's Student Union hosted their very first Culture Week to celebrate cultural diversity at LSE. The week included a food market with cuisines from across the world and cultural engagement and enrichment sessions. Each day celebrated a different region of the world. EmbRace hosted a stall to promote our network and cookbook to staff and students.

EmbRace the Culinary Tapestry of LSE: Cookbook Launch

LSE EmbRace's very first cookbook is a vibrant collection of recipes, stories, and cherished memories contributed by staff and students from across the LSE. It was officially launched with a Potluck celebration where everyone brought in their favourite dishes.

Black History Month
The theme for Black History Month 2024 was "Reclaiming Narratives". Throughout October, LSE held a range of events to mark the occasion.

Breakfast with School Management Committee (SMC)
07 October 2024
Hosted by Charles Stafford (Vice President & Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty Development) with other members of the School Management Committee in attendance. This event presented a wonderful opportunity to foster connections, enjoy delicious refreshments, and engage in meaningful conversations with other members of the network.


SAHM x ESEA Potluck
18 September 2024
Embrace hosted a bring and share pot luck event on campus, where everyone brought in and shared their favourite Asian dish, whether it was sushi, dumplings, or samosas to mark East and South East Asian (ESEA) and South Asian Heritage Months (SAHM).

East and South East History Month
27 September 2023
Celebrating ESEA Heritage Month for the first time at LSE under this year's theme of "Roots/Routes", EmbRace hosted a film screening exploring the theme through four short films looking at ESEA heritage, culture and food.Films included Pixar's Bao, Parallel by Rosanna Lee, Made in Malaysia by Jared Lee, and Talaga directed by Mona Bakht.

Black History Month
The theme for Black History Month 2023 was "Celebrating our Sisters, Saluting our Sisters, and Honouring Matriarchs of Movements." Throughout October, LSE held a range of events to mark the occasion.
