International Education Week (IEW) is an important opportunity for LSE to celebrate the benefits of global learning and cultural exchange. For the week of 17 November- 21 November, we will be highlighting the priorities of LSE’s International Strategy through events, discussions and resources. This includes the importance of international experiences for students, benefits of global research collaborations, and the value of a diverse student and faculty community.
On behalf of the International Strategy and Academic Partnerships Team, we hope you can engage in some part of the week’s festivities, as we underscore the School’s commitment to academic excellence, cultural awareness, and the development of globally competent graduates.
Schedule of Events
Monday 17 November: NYU London Visit
LSE’s neighbour and academic partner, NYU London, is hosting an information session on NYU and its global network of campuses as part of International Education Week. LSE and NYU have a strategic partnership spanning global student mobility, double degrees and research.
NYU’s first campus was founded in 1831 in New York City and since then NYU has grown its global presence with two additional degree awarding campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai. In addition, NYU has 13 global study away centres throughout the world, including London. Colleagues from NYU London will be hosting an information session for interested LSE staff and faculty to learn more about NYU and its global presence.

Tuesday 18 November: LSE Life ‘Build your community fair’
LSE Life is hosting a ‘Build your Community fair’ on Tuesday 18 November. With students from over 140 different countries and 40% of staff from outside of the UK, LSE is a highly diverse community. This diversity encourages social, economic and political discussions from a global perspective, informed by the different experiences, views and beliefs of our staff and student body.
Whilst that type of diversity is enriching, it can also be intimidating for students to find their community when they first arrive. Teams from across LSE will be at the upcoming fair to share more with students on how they can get involved in various aspects and build both their networks and get the most out of their time at LSE.
Wednesday 19 November: CIVICA Engage track
LSE students have a number of opportunities to engage internationally as part of their degrees or to complement their studies. CIVICA Engage Track is a European multi-campus, interdisciplinary experience with a focus on civic engagement of undergraduates.
Students who undertake the CIVICA Engage Track have the opportunity to present a personal analytical reflection of their learning experience through a CIVICA Showcase Assignment. Join us in a lunch-time session where we hear from previous students on their experiences and how they have contributed to open debates on Europe’s most pressing challenges.
Time and location TBC, Booking is required here. CIVICA student film

Friday 21 November: Closing the Awarding Gap through Equitable Assessment and Support
With a diverse learning population coming from a wide range of countries, educational backgrounds and different cultures, the importance of equitable assessments and support is imperative. The Eden Centre is hosting a workshop on Friday 21 November from 2-3 pm for faculty and staff to help prepare staff on designing assessments that not only measure learning outcomes but actively promote equity. This workshop invites academic staff to explore inclusive assessment strategies that support diverse learners and can contribute to closing the awarding gap and enable all students to participate in learning.
We will be focusing on inclusive assessment design and inclusive support through our work on the inclusive practice in assessment guidance.
This session offers a space to reflect, share, and co-create assessment approaches that align with our institutional commitment to equity and student success.
