The charity Working Families provides free webinars (seminars delivered over the internet) to help employees find a balance between work and family responsibilities.

Health and safety

Information relating to LSE and health and safety specifically such as health and safety assessments and training, can be found on the health and safety website.

Mental health and wellbeing

The School continually seeks to support staff maintaining good mental and emotional wellbeing.  We offer an in-house counselling service for staff and students, details of which can be found on the Staff Counselling webpage, including a detailed external resources section dedicated to mental health matters.

The NHS has a website dedicated to identifying mental health issues and self help information, covering a wide range of materials including signposting to the relevant services, advice and guidance, videos and much more.

Benevolent fund

A benevolent fund exists to help current or retired members of staff, or their dependants, in case of financial necessity. All applications are handled in strict confidence. Further details can be found on the Benevolent Fund webpage

News updates and places to go

Activities are promoted throughout the year via Staff News  which is sent out by email, weekly during term time and every fortnightly outside of term.

Senior Common Room

The SCR is both a physical location and a members' club, both of which are for LSE staff only, offering social and networking opportunities to enhance staff wellbeing and the collegiality of the institution.

The physical location of the SCR is on the fifth floor of the Old Building. It is open during all hours that the School is open and can be accessed by all staff, available for use throughout the day as a quiet space for lunch, reading and informal meetings. 

All members of LSE staff are eligible to join the Staff Common Room (SCR). For photos of the room and further details see the Senior Common Room webpage.

LSE Treatment Clinic

The LSE Treatment Clinic offers a range of therapies at a discounted price to staff, including Osteopathy, Acupuncture and Sports Massage.

The treatments offered are:

  • Acupuncture (available in a dual bed or private setting) on Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Reflexology on Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Sports massage on Mondays
  • Osteopathy on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Appointments are available Monday - Friday from 9am - 6.00pm and can be booked online at www.lsetreatmentclinic.co.uk.

All consultations are strictly confidential and sessions will last between 30 to 60 minutes depending upon the treatment.

Eye tests for VDU users

The School has a duty to provide an eyesight test, or cost towards an eye test, for employees who habitually use display screen equipment as a significant part of their normal working hours. For further information consult the eye test for VDU users procedure.
