LSE can help support new policy thinking with the latest cutting-edge social sciences research.

We match up the latest relevant research to your policy problem, and can identify the best LSE experts to meet or speak to. We also provide research summaries, and policy recommendations, as well as platforms for academics to present their research alongside policy-makers.

LSE is a member of UPEN, the Universities Policy Engagement Network, a network of UK universities working to increase the public policy impact from their research.

Bringing LSE research into the heart of political debate

From advising on written and oral committee evidence, to condensing research into punchy briefings for Parliamentary debates, and setting up meetings with policy-makers and influencers, the Team offers a full range of political services.

We find opportunities to present research through political roundtable events, panels and private meetings, connecting researchers with Parliamentarians, civil servants, and partner organisations to facilitate knowledge exchange and impact.

We organise high-profile fringe events and meetings at annual party conferences - excellent opportunities to showcase new research alongside ministers, MPs and prominent partners from politics, business, think tanks, communities and charities.

We work with our network of organisations from the CBI and Local Government Association to think tanks like Policy Exchange and the Centre for Cities to build influential alliances to increase understanding of research and push for change.

We send out weekly email bulletins highlighting the latest opportunities to influence government and Parliamentary business, including consultations and select committees, and outlining UK political news.

The bulletin also flags mentions of LSE research in Parliament and beyond, and the impact that LSE researchers are having on policy-making and scrutiny.

The Team manages LSE’s institutional relationships with international organisations such as the Organisation for the Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Economic Forum (WEF).
