The New Year comes with fresh hopes and dreams as well as renewed energy and determination. While 2017 was a huge success for me, with gaining admission into LSE with a full scholarship and coming to London as my major achievements, 2018 is a year of consolidation. As part of my 2018 goals and New Year resolutions, I plan to undertake the following:

Healthy Living
The age-old wisdom “health is wealth” cannot be overemphasised. Good health itself gives us the motivation to undertake several tasks and responsibilities. While I kept postponing my registration with a GP (General Practitioner) last year, I have made it top on my list in 2018. It would be rather dangerous to wait till my health falters before rushing to the hospital. That poor eyesight that always compelled me to sit in the front row to see the lecture screen will also be sorted out this year!
I also intend to eat healthy by including more fruits and vegetables in my meals. Fortunately, they are often quite cheap and easy to get in London. Long walks and cycling also made my 2018 “Healthy Living” list. They will challenge my sedentary lifestyle as a student and get my bones, joints and muscles moving.
Time Management
I will be taking my first exams and dissertation at the LSE this year, feats that are exciting and challenging in equal measure. To handle the pressure, time management and a clear schedule is important. This means giving myself more time for reading, researching and revising. I will also attend the workshops on studying and writing skills for examination and dissertation organised by LSE Life and the Language Centre.
Since I will also be graduating this year, I need to start thinking about my career path and potential employers. I hope to attend job fairs, recruitment drives and workshops. Attending a drop-in session at LSE Careers is also on my list.

More Adventures
London is a city buzzing with life and adventures. I do not intend to be left out from the excitement that pervades the city in 2018. In spite of my busy schedule this term, going to see a movie with friends, trying a foreign cuisine, learning how to swim and visiting museums in London have made my list of priorities this year.
There is no doubt that 2018 is going to be a busy year for me in London, joggling between my academics and social life, but as the English writer Samuel Johnson pointed out, “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
