Interfaith Ambassadors

Leading interfaith action on campus

What's it all about?

This programme is now in its second year. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to work in a diverse team across faiths and backgrounds, to design and deliver interfaith activities on the LSE campus and lead on Interfaith Week in November.

What's involved?

The programme runs throughout Michaelmas and Lent term, with Ambassadors meeting for planning sessions at least once a week and leading on a series of activities in Interfaith Week from 10-17 November. Programme induction and celebration are compulsory events and will be planned around the schedules of Ambassadors. Some commitment during Interfaith Week is also compulsory, but the Ambassadors team will share these roles so no one will be too busy. There will also be a chance to take on specific leadership roles and learn facilitation on our Interfaith Buddies programme running throughout Michaelmas, and further volunteering and leadership opportunities in Lent.

The programme covers:

  • Planning and running a series of events on campus for National Interfaith Week 10-17 November.
  • Getting involved in other volunteering activities around faith and belief on campus.
  • Representing LSE Faith Centre in the wider LSE and connecting with other parts of the School. (Volunteer Centre, Students' Union)
  • Taking on specific leadership roles of facilitation, coordination, and communication.

What we are looking for

We are looking for Ambassadors who are:

  • committed to working in a diverse team across faiths, backgrounds and genders.
  • curious about other faiths and beliefs.
  • interested in interfaith dialogue and open to developing communication skills.
  • enthusiastic to represent the LSE Faith Centre on campus.

What the Faith Centre will offer

  • logistical support, advice and guidance throughout the programme.
  • full induction into the role.
  • signposting to relevant internal and external events and training.
  • leadership opportunities at our events.

Applications

The programme is open to all current LSE students, of any faith or belief or none, and both those that have experience of interfaith activities and those that are keen to get more involved. Numbers are limited to 15 participants.
