In times of polarisation and escalating international tensions, none of us can avoid conflict and disagreement. Global conflicts connect with our identities and manifest in our friendship groups and more widely on campus. This two-part workshop is a personal development opportunity to help students think about how they engage with conflict and how they might contribute to promoting dialogue on campus and within their communities.
The first session will explore our positionality in conflict and focus on our ability to hear and engage with the positions of others. The second session will introduce the Faith Centre Tools for Dialogue and explore the different roles we can take as we engage in conflict.
Who this workshop is for
- Students who are concerned about the rising tensions on campus and want to develop skills that will help them to encourage dialogue amongst their peers.
- Students who want to understand different ways in which people can be implicated in conflict and the need to show sensitivity to this.
- Students who find themselves in leadership roles that have been made more challenging by the escalation of violence in Israel, Palestine, and the wider Middle East.
Participants need to be aware that this workshop is designed to be a challenging learning opportunity. It is not intended to provide pastoral or psychological support to those impacted by conflict and therefore may not be appropriate for some.

It is vital that you participate in both workshops so please do not apply if you cannot commit to these two dates.
How to apply
The programme is open to all current LSE students. The deadline is Friday 2nd February, 12pm.
We will be in touch by Friday 2nd February to confirm if you have secured a space. We envision this will be a highly subscribed workshop so we cannot guarantee that everyone who applies will be successful.
