Web Design: HTML, CSS & Bootstrap

Prerequisites: No previous knowledge is required.

This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in learning how to design and create their own (non-LSE) web pages using HTML, CSS & Bootstrap. 

Our Web Design IT Practical workshops have been re-designed so that learners can work at their own pace and attend as many sessions as they need to work their way from basic HTML coding to learning how to customise web pages using CSS and Bootstrap templates. Student Training Advisors will be on hand to help out if you get stuck.

There are five discrete tasks to complete and all need to be completed in order as they build upon the previous task:

• Task 1: HTML Pages
• Task 2: HTML Sites
• Task 3: CSS Format
• Task 4a: Bootstrap
• Task 4b: CSS Layout

Computers will be provided for this workshop.

This flipped session introduces students to the value of usability testing using a technique called paper prototyping. Students should attend class having completed the short Moodle lesson, where they will design a small website and run iterative usability tests to refine their design.

This course is ideal for anyone creating their own website, or wishing to understand how to design user-friendly websites or apps.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Identify the key advantages of usability testing and several different methods for running tests
• Create a paper prototype of a site
• Construct a user-centred and measurable usability test
• Run a usability test and use the results to refine a paper prototype design
