Excel Workshop Series

 

The Excel workshops are designed to give you a good working knowledge of the basic functionalities in Excel, including how to set up efficient formulae and workbooks, condition-based functions and functions that assess data tables to extract specific information.

This series of workshops is ideal for those with no prior experience or those looking for a refresher.

Each workshop is two hours long, and you will work with fellow learners, utilising your prior experience, web searches, and in-application Help features to find the solutions to real-world problems, with an Excel expert on hand if you get stuck.

Workshops take place in LRB.R08 once a day every week.

Power BI Workshop Series

The Power BI workshops are designed to provide you with the core topics and skills to create data visualisations with Power BI. These include extracting, transforming and loading (ETL) data, performing calculations using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), setting up filters and cross-filters, performing time-based analysis and forecasting, working with different data types, making a variety of visualisations.

This series of workshops is ideal for those with no prior experience or those looking for a refresher.

Each workshop is two hours long, and you will work with fellow learners, utilising your prior experience, web searches, and in-application Help features to find the solutions to real-world problems, with a Power BI expert on hand if you get stuck.

Workshops take place in LRB.R08 three times a week.

Stata Workshop Series

The Stata workshop series comprises the Stata Fundamentals and Stata Data Cleaning materials. Together, the Fundamentals and the Data Cleaning lessons will teach you the basics of inspecting, summarising, cleaning, analysing and visualising data in Stata.

Each workshop is two-hours long, and you will work with fellow learners, utilising your prior experience, web searches, and in-application Help features to find the solutions to real-world problems, with a Stata expert on hand if you get stuck.

Introduction to LaTeX

LaTeX is a tool that will help you when you are writing essays, reports, dissertation and thesis while looking for a better way to handle the formatting and referencing of these. Learning LaTeX and Markdown will provide you with the skills to make beautiful reports, documents, and CV’s.

Power Point Workshop Series

The PowerPoint workshops are designed to give you a good working knowledge of the core functionalities in PowerPoint, including how to set up a Slide Master, use AI-driven Designer, create links with Excel to automatically update tables and charts in your slides, apply animations, align and position multiple elements with ease, create handouts, and features that help you prepare and deliver effective and interactive presentations.

R Pre-Sessional Workshops

 This series of R workshops is designed to provide you with the primary tools, concepts, and skills that form the foundation of statistical programming projects in R and will build your confidence to continue learning independently. They include how to work with R syntax, use different data types, perform basic data manipulations and calculations, start to use conditional logic, load in data sets, utilise the many functions that come with R, and start automating your code.

Python Pre-Sessional Workshops

This Python workshop series will introduce to the most fundamental aspects of programming that are required for all type of work in Python, i.e. data science, machine/deep learning or software development in a more general sense.

Excel Bootcamp

This two-day bootcamp will introduce you to the versatility of Excel, whether it is for your academic or professional life. You will receive a mixture of taught materials and practical learning regarding various must-know tools in Excel covering data entry, analysis and visualisation, and some useful tips, tricks and shortcuts that will improve and streamline your Excel practice.

The bootcamp will take place on 16 &17 November 2024 from 10am to 6pm,  in MAR.1.10.
