Digital Skills Tutor

Part-time Vacancy for 2024/25 Academic Year (new and continuing students only)  

  • Pay:  c. £20.88/hour  
  • Average Hours Per Week: 5 – 10 
  • Start Date:  6 January 2025  
  • Candidates must be residing in the UK for this role

The Digital Skills Lab team are seeking several students with experience in teaching or tutoring to work as Tutors for our highly rated IT training programme. . 

Tutors work as part of a team to provide guidance and support to LSE students and staff during IT training courses on Microsoft Office and Power BI. 

Excellent communication skills and previous experience in teaching or tutoring is essential; in-depth knowledge of Excel, and some knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Power BI is desirable, but comprehensive technical training is provided. Applicants with strong teaching or tutoring skills who lack prior in-depth technical knowledge are still encouraged to apply, as we will provide all successful candidates with technical training prior to starting work.  Please note that hours of work will need to be flexible and may include some evening and weekend work.

Part-time Opportunity: Digital Skills Trainer - NVivo

  •  £27.56 - £32.91 / hour  (depending on experience)
  • This is a fixed term contract until 31 July 2025 (possible extension to 31 July 2026)
  • Candidates must be residing in the UK for this role

The Digital Skills Lab is seeking an experienced trainer to deliver effective and engaging technical training to LSE students and staff both online and in person. Workshops are currently delivered in person training takes place on campus. Each workshop will last between 1 to 3 hours and will have up to 16 participants. Trainers will be expected to work between 5 to 10 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have experience in delivering training in NVivo and be able to re-purpose existing learning content to deliver short, high-quality training courses.  Experience of any of the following technologies listed is also desirable:

  • Python, R, SPSS, SQL, Stata, Tableau, Git/GitHub, LaTeX, MatLab
  • Web scraping
  • Machine Learning techniques
  • Database design and SQL
  • Text Analysis
  • Database design and SQL
  • Text Analysis
  • Markdown , particularly R Markdown
