Some examples of recent work
The Learning Lab supports undergraduate students on the LSE100 programme to help students prepare for their summative assessments. The Learning Lab runs workshops on interdisciplinary commentary skills, developing effective presentations, and creating effective digital reports. These sessions run throughout AT and WT.
In collaboration with the Health Policy Department, the Learning Lab developed a pilot workshop series to help students develop their critical thinking and reflective practice skills. Designed for students on the Executive MSc in Health Economics, Policy and Management, this series encouraged students to engage not only with the academic side of the course, but also — through critical thinking and reflection — apply the course learnings to their own personal and professional context. This gave students an opportunity to reflect on the relevance and applicability of their learning, identify areas for further growth and action, and consider next steps for their personal development.
The Learning Lab worked with the PBS department to co-design and co-teach a workshop for the compulsory PGT Social Psychology of Communication module. As the course involves a lot of reading, the session focused on using reading goals as a strategy for engaging with academic texts, focusing on an example from their reading list. The workshop also examined how AI tools could be used critically and ethically to enhance students' reading practice.
The Learning Lab worked with the Department of Management to design and deliver two bespoke workshops for first-year undergraduate students; the first focuses on critical reading and writing for formative report writing, the second on developing summative work from formative feedback.
